Specialization:
Serves as a Designated Interpreter, providing communication access between spoken English and American Sign Language for a faculty member through real-time interpreting for academic courses, meetings, conferences, and university-related events. 90% of the role is focused on linguistics, including preparation by reviewing materials, researching relevant topics, and maintaining familiarity with the professor’s research focus, communication preferences, and current projects. The remaining 10% is dedicated to supporting campus accessibility efforts by offering guidance to speakers and campus partners on best practices for Deaf attendees.
